Like all Dometic Büttner products, the chargers are precisely tailored to their area of application.

The MT Duo automatic chargers work with the latest SMD technology and have a state-of-the-art charging characteristic. This IUoU charging characteristic optimizes the capacity storage of AGM and gel batteries and guarantees the full performance of cycle-resistant acid batteries thanks to the programmed gassing control. The chargers can be switched to the respective battery type and can remain permanently connected to the battery/batteries (e.g. winter break). Charge retention without overcharging is guaranteed and, in addition, a long-term activation program ensures monitoring-free charging. This applies not only to the main charging of the on-board battery, but also to the starter battery, as this is always supplied via a second charging output.

A characteristic curve (14.4 V) is also stored for lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. This guarantees a fast full charge and an immediate reduction in voltage so that the battery is not kept at an unnecessarily high voltage level. All devices are protected against short circuits, overvoltage and overload. Electronic voltage stabilization ensures full power even when the mains supply is unstable. Even with an input voltage of only 110 volts, the devices still achieve half charging power.
The respective operating status is indicated by LEDs on a control/display panel. This control/display panel can be detached from the appliance and can be connected to a connection cable (cable extension available as an option) and attached anywhere in the interior as a remote control/display panel. This display panel can be switched off for night operation and the whisper fans are then automatically switched to silent mode.

All MT chargers are equipped with a battery temperature sensor. This transmits the battery temperature to the charging electronics. Depending on the ambient temperature, the charging characteristic is adjusted accordingly and the on-board battery/ batteries (liquid / gel / AGM / LiFePO4) are charged with the prescribed characteristic depending on the battery type set.

From the MT 1240 series upwards, a second main charging output is also integrated. This also enables battery banks that are operated separately from each other - usually in marine applications - to be charged if required. A 3-stage switch is also provided on these devices, which can be used to reduce the charging power for weakly fused locations.

All MT chargers can also be operated without a ballast in countries with 110 V mains voltage (charging capacity then 50 %).
