The PowerUnit enables the simple and safe combination of a BÜTTNER ELEKTRONIK LiFePO4 battery
with the existing on-board battery (AGM/gel/liquid acid). Both battery systems are connected with the enclosed cable set. The system is monitored and controlled by a special battery computer. This is connected to the BMS (Battery Management System) of the lithium battery and also prevents further charging by the existing charging systems if the lithium battery is fully charged but the charging devices still need to charge the installed on-board battery further due to its AGM or gel characteristic curve. In addition, the battery computer displays the total available capacity of the entire battery system in the interior.
Advantage: All existing charging equipment can remain in the vehicle and continue to be operated. The mostly new or still intact on-board battery - regardless of capacity and type - remains installed and works purely as a backup battery. It is used when the lithium battery is almost completely discharged or has been switched off by the battery computer due to external circumstances. The disconnection is activated at extremely low temperatures or if the lithium battery has to be switched off due to high interior temperatures.
Installation is very simple and quick, as no changes need to be made to the existing charging system.
1) Connect the batteries in parallel.
2) Connect the battery computer to the lithium battery.
3) Program the battery computer to the system.
Additional function: If the vehicle is not used as a touring vehicle, this can be set on the battery computer at the touch of a button. As long as this rest function is activated, the lithium battery is not fully charged but kept in its optimum partial charge state. This significantly increases the service life of the LiFePO4 battery.
Tip: The longer charging times caused by the increased battery capacity can be compensated for with an additional charger. The MT series chargers from the Büttner range are ideally suited.
